Start by gathering all the necessary ingredients for the recipe.
Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add oil and allow it to heat up.
1 teaspoon sesame oil
While the oil is heating, prepare the chicken. Cut boneless, skinless chicken breasts into bite-sized pieces.
2 chicken breasts
Add the chicken to the hot oil and cook until it turns crispy and golden brown. This usually takes around 5-6 minutes.
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, ¼ cup cornstarch
Once the chicken is cooked, remove it from the pan and set it aside.
In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Sauté for a minute or until fragrant.
4 cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon ginger, 2 green onions
Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and water to the pan. Stir well to combine.
1/4 cup soy sauce, 1/4 cup hoisin sauce, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/4 cup water
Bring the sauce to a boil and then reduce the heat to simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
Return the cooked chicken to the pan and toss it in the sauce until well coated.
Remove from heat and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds for extra flavor and visual appeal.
